Returnable transit packaging (RTP) company PHS Teacrate, a part of the PHS Group, has invested considerably in tooling from Rehrig Pacific UK, manufacturer of plastic packing goods, which will enable the company to now exclusively manufacture the ALC and NBAT range for the UK and European markets.
Besides expanding PHS Teacrate's product portfolio, it will allow RTP users to get Teacrate and Rehrig crates from one single source, said the UK-based company.
This decision follows Rehrig's decision to prioritize its other interests.
PHS Teacrates commercial director Gordon Philip said the company's purchase of the tooling from Rehrig shores up security of supply, as it also plans to make the crates available to competitors to ensure no breakdowns in the logistics chain.
"This significant tooling investment enables PHS Teacrate to provide retailers with even greater supply chain efficiencies by allowing them to source all their RTP requirements from one single supplier," Philip added.
